Kanye West is a rapper, producer, film director & fashion designer born in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in Chicago, with an estimated net worth of $125 million. Kanye West’s first major move was his debut album “College Dropout” which was released back in 2004. Kanye West spent four years perfecting his College Dropout album, and it was worth every second because it stole the number 2 spot on the Billboard 200, won a Grammy for Best Rap Album, and is still Kanye West’s best selling album to date that has since gone triple platinum in the United States. Kanye West’s later albums including Late Registration, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, and Watch The Throne (with ‘big brother’ Jay-Z) were also chart toppers that received great critical and commercial success. Kanye West has sold over 30 million digital songs in the United States and is one of the most awarded artists of all time with over 40 significant awards, including 14 Grammy’s and 7 BET awards.
“If you have the opportunity to play this game of life you need to appreciate every moment. A lot of people don’t appreciate the moment until it’s passed.”

Through The Wire
Featured on the College Dropout album was the breakthrough single “Through The Wire” that was inspired from a near fatal car crash that left Kanye West’s jaw shattered in three places. Two weeks after being admitted into the hospital from his accident, he produced & recorded the song Through The Wire with his jaw still ‘wired’ shut, and even financed the music video himself. The single was later Grammy nominated for “Best Rap Solo Performance” in 2005, and won “Video of the Year” at the Source Awards in 2004. You can check out the music video for Through The Wire below.
Kanye West Fashion
Besides music, Kanye West’s other passions include fashion and design. Kanye West announced in September 2005 that he would release his first clothing line called “Pastelle” in spring 2006. The clothing line was then developed by Kanye West over the following four years, with multiple pieces teased by Kanye himself, before the line was ultimately cancelled in 2009. Instead, Kanye West created his first shoe line designed for Louis Vuitton, popularly known as the “Louis Vuitton Dons,” that were introduced in January 2009 during Paris Fashion Week. Kanye also collaborated with Nike in 2009 to produce the “Air Yeezy” shoe line, with a second version released in 2012. The Nike Air Yeezy shoes originally retailed at $250, but due to the limited production, the shoes subsequently resold at prices as high as $2750, and one online auction even sold a pair of the shoes for a reported $90,000! Kanye West has also designed shoewear for Bape, has interned at Fendi, and even offered a position from Versace.
Kanye West & G.O.O.D. Music
