Meek Mill Becomes Co-Owner of Lids Sports Apparel Company
American rapper, songwriter, and activist Meek Mill continues to diversify his portfolio when announcing during an interview with Business Insider that he has become a co-owner of Lids Sports Apparel Company, the largest hats retailer of North America.
The Philly native joins a team headed by Michael Rubin, his close friend and business associate, whose Fanatics company is already part of the ownership group of Lids.
The 32-year-old star told Business Insider: “I have been shopping at Lids my whole life, wearing hats, fitteds, of course, fitted hats and caps, all types of hats.” “In our culture, it has been a big thing. So, it was something I don’t have to think twice about and always believed in, that it will work.”
Moreover, Meek Mill will be involved in leading the creative side with his own line of caps that are slated to drop in August. He says of tying hip-hop and the hat retailer together when he has a lot of influence, and can see things kind of clearer. He would definitely love to involve their whole culture in Lids more. He says that because the first thing they do in merchandize in hip hop is to sell hats and all types of things. And as we might have known, he has the leverage to actually bring the two together even more.
August will be a very busy month for Meek Mill because his Free Meek docuseries is scheduled to be released on the 9th of Aug., around the same period of time when he is scheduled to kick off his Legendary Nights Tour with Future.
In term of the Free Meek docuseries, this five-part Amazon series will offer a deeper look at examining the experiences within the criminal justice system of Meek Mill. Another hip hop star, Jay-Z, is credited as an executive producer on the project.
